Top Books of 2013

My top books for 2013... Well this is going to be tough. But I decided to go onto my Goodreads page and went to my 5 star list which believe it or not there isn't that many on it 27/103. And I decided to pick a few of them. This year I've read nearly twice as many books as I did last year. I put this down to the fact I got a kindle for Christmas last year and I find it easier to read on it, I bring it everywhere with me and also I find it easier and cheaper to buy books online now with the kindle where as before i would had have to go searching high and low for a lot of authors and paid high prices for postage. So yeah my kindle has worked out great for me. I've also gotten a lot of my family into it this year ha ha

Rock Chick Revolution (Rock Chick #8) Kristen Ashley

Ally Nightingale has secrets. Secrets she doesn't even share with the Rock Chicks. But two men know what she's up to. One has her back. The other has her heart, but he doesn't know it.

As Ally rewinds the last year of her life, she knows two things. One, she’s never going to get what every Rock Chick should have—her own Hot Bunch guy. And two, she’s a Nightingale through and through. She just isn’t sure what to do about that.
But as her secrets are revealed, the men in her life react. Darius Tucker, a lifelong friend, as usual takes her back. Ren Zano, the man she loves, isn’t quite so sure. The Rock Chicks, Hot Bunch and the entire gang at Fortnum’s weigh in, and a Rock Chick Revolution starts brewing.
It’s up to Ally to control it and prove what she knows down to her bones.
She’s a Rock Chick, she deserves her hot guy and she’s going to keep the one she wants…
Because she’s a Nightingale.

Ah I loved this series and reading this last one after reading ever single one of them in a row it was sad to finish up. I only discovered Kristen Ashley this year and Its a pity it had taken me so long to find her. She is Amaz-Balls sooo good!

Controlling the Dead (The Famished Trilogy #2) Annie Walls

With the help of her new companions, the path Kansas follows leads to more knowledge of the ever adapting famished.

The team finds help in unlikely places, meeting more survivors, and discovers the possibility of a new beginning.

When the team experiences a devastating loss, Kansas struggles to keep her humanity from fading and distorting like that of the surviving society around her. It begins with knowing who to trust and who to leave behind. First, she must trust herself – she won't make the same mistakes twice.

As the answers to her questions are revealed, Kansas begins to understand the knowledge comes with a heavy price and great responsibility of controlling the dead.

In a trilogy plot thick with twists and turns, this adult dark fantasy is as emotional as it is horrifyingly gripping.

Was waiting for this second installment to come out for ages and ages first it was supposed to be released in August then September, Eventually it was released the end of October. I dove into it with bated breath. i was dying to see what Kan was going to do next. There where some twists and turns but this second book in the Famished Trilogy was not a let down it was brilliant and next year can't come soon enough to see how this trilogy finishes.

 Unbreakable (Unraveling #2) Elizabeth Norris

Four months after Ben disappeared through the portal to his home universe, Janelle believes she’ll never see him again. Her world is still devastated, but life is finally starting to resume some kind of normalcy. Until Interverse Agent Taylor Barclay shows up. Somebody from an alternate universe is running a human trafficking ring, kidnapping people and selling them on different Earths—and Ben is the prime suspect. Now his family has been imprisoned and will be executed if Ben doesn’t turn himself over within five days.

And when Janelle learns that someone she cares about—someone from her own world—has become one of the missing, she knows that she has to help Barclay, regardless of the danger. Now Janelle has five days to track down the real culprit. Five days to locate the missing people before they’re lost forever. Five days to reunite with the boy who stole her heart. But as the clues begin to add up, Janelle realizes that she’s in way over her head—and that she may not have known Ben as well as she thought. Can she uncover the truth before everyone she cares about is killed?

I read the first one in this series in March so I hadn't got long to wait to read this brilliant second installment which was great for me because I really hate waiting for the next book the series haha Anyway I liked that fact that this was a 2 book series with a little novella in the middle. Sometimes these days authors get carried away with series and stories and drag this out. I loved Janelle's character and her never give up attitude! I would highly recommend giving this series a go.

Blue Lines (Assassins #4) Toni Aleo

Opposites do more than just attract in Toni Aleo’s latest Nashville Assassins novel about a very bad boy and the good girl he can’t resist.

The instant Piper Allen sees Erik Titov, she wants him—wants his rock-hard body, sure, but the strength and mystery that lies behind that superstar hockey jock demeanor, too. So when he sidles up to her at a bar and slinks his arm around her waist, she’s lost. What follows is the wildest night of her life . . . followed by inevitable heartbreak the next morning. And then, a few weeks later, a very big surprise: two blue lines on a pregnancy test.

Only a check to the head could make Erik fall for a nice girl like Piper. But since their crazy-sexy night together, he’s been trying to forget about her alluring body by falling into bed with every woman in Nashville, and it’s not working. So when Piper shows up at his house with a baby-bomb to drop, it doesn’t take much for Erik to suggest the nuclear option: marriage. While it’s supposed to be all for show, the second they say “I do,” the ice between them starts to melt into sizzling steam.

Includes a special message from the editor, as well as excerpts from these Loveswept titles: Taking Shots, Trying to Score, and Empty Net.

Let me just say out right I love Toni Aleo she is that bomb! I came accross her last year on Netgalley and I got a ARc of her first book in this series Taking Shots. I read the firs 3 books in her series so fast. They are so enjoyable that you start reading them you don't want to put them down. This 4th installment was no different. Although I wanted to Box Erik in the face at times :) From the first Chapter I had an ache in my heart reading this. I think this was by far my favourite so far! Can't wait for the next one :)

Own the Wind (Chaos #1) Kristen Ashley

Tabitha Allen grew up in the thick of Chaos--the Chaos Motorcycle Club, that is. Her father is Chaos' leader, and the club has always had her back. But one rider was different from the start. When Tabby was running wild, Shy Cage was there. When tragedy tore her life apart, he helped her piece it back together. And now, Tabby's thinking about much more than friendship...

Tabby is everything Shy's ever wanted, but everything he thinks he can't have. She's beautiful, smart, and as his friend's daughter, untouchable. Shy never expected more than friendship, so when Tabby indicates she wants more--much more--he feels like the luckiest man alive. But even lucky men can crash and burn...

Well you can probably tell from my Goodreads shelf that I found and fell in love with Kristen Ashley books this year. How and why it took me so long to find her is anyone's guess. This was the first one of her books I picked up and I loved it. I probably should have read Motorcycle Man first with Tyra and Tack's story but it was fine I was not lost. Reading Kristen Ashley is an experience you wont forget and will want more. Tabby and Shy's story was heart breaking at times but I loved ever minute of this book and thinking back at it makes me want to read it all over again.

The Rocker that Holds me (The Rocker #1) Terri Anne Browning

Touring with four rockers is the thing of dreams…

At least that is what people tell me. To me those four rockers are my family. They have watched over me from the time I was five years old. Protecting me from my mother and her drunken, drug addict rages. When they made it big they still watched over me. And when my monster of a mother died they took over as my guardians.

In the six years since that happened I have watched over the four men that
mean everything to me. I take care of them just as they once took care of me. I handle all the dirty work behind the scenes of a rockers life. It isn’t always pretty. At times it came be damn near disgusting, especially when I have to get rid of their one night stands. Ugh!

Taking care of them doesn’t bother me though. I mean it’s not like I’m in love with one of them. That would be crazy. Falling for a rocker is NOT smart.

Okay, so I’m not smart. I love my guys, and one of them kind of holds my heart in his big old rocker hand. But I’m dealing. I’ve been able to keep it my little secret for years now.
I’m not, however, dealing with this bug that I seem to have caught. It scares the hell out of me. I hate doctors, but I’m suddenly more worried about finding out what is wrong with me than what the doctor might do to me.

When I get my test results back my life will never be the same again…

I also came upon this lady this year as well. It was a year of first haha The Rocker Series well jeez hot under the collar doesn't described this at all. I read this book within a night and had a crap book handover in work the next day. But it was worth it. By the end of the first chapter I just couldn't put it down. If your looking for a quick great read I'd pick up any of Terri's Books up.

These Are a Few of My Favourite Things!

I was just thinking today about some of the things I've purchased this year and some of the amazing things I've come across that I could probably live without but it would be damn hard. Year to year we come across some amazing things and I just wanted to share some with you lovely people "Pay it Forward" an all that. I picked ten I could have picked a lot more but I held myself back.

1. My Kindle Hd Fire, My lovely boyfriend bought me this for Christmas last year and I know technically it was last year but it was the very end of last year so I'm counting it as this year. I never thought I could get into reading on a tablet type thing and i though maybe I'll give it a go! Well Jeanie Mac I'm addicted. I find it easier to read and also I've found I've read a hell-of-alot more this year. If Goodreads is to be believed, which I try update ever few days, I read 68 books in 2012. That's 1.30 books a week. And in 2013 so far I've read 101 books. That's 2.02 books a week not including the last two weeks that are left of the year! Anyway as you can see I've read a lot more! Even though at times I would like to read more but alas life and work get in the way of that I have noticed that I watch less TV of late so that gives me more time to read. I also like that you can see the books covers in colour and i can check my Facebook and Goodreads as well.

2. Verso kindle cover that makes your kindle look like an old book. You have a few different options and they look really cool and fit right into your book case. It also is great at keeping your kindle safe from all things bad that might want to hurt it  :)

3. Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Lip Protectant Stick Sheer Tint Sunscreen SPF 15 they come in all types of tint colour and protect your lips, FAB! The Plum Colour tint is my favourite. Gives a nice tint to your lips and also protects and moisturises your lips.

4. Chalkboard paint, who knew it could come in handy in so many ways!

5.Real Techniques Sponge is a real favourite buy this year as well as being very affordable it was great to use. The rounded sides blend large areas with a repeated dabbing or stippling motion. The precision tip will cover blemishes and imperfections and the Flat edge is great for contours around the eyes and nose.

6. Glasses. Yes Glasses I love to look out for funky cool ones and generally I’ll only buy two of them. I like them to mix and match. I love stemless wine glasses I find drinking red wine from them is great as while you’re holding the glass it’s keeping your wine at the right temperature to drink. I also got really into mason jars this year. They are way too expensive to buy from America where the choice is so large so I went around Dublin looking for ones that would look similar I found some great ones made by Kilner.

9.Avon Advances 360 Nourishment Moroccan Argan Oil Leave in Treatment. This Nourishing serum is suitable for all hair types and for use on wet or dry hair. It gives an instant shine and smooth finish. Its weightless and leaves no residue. It also has Vitamin E in it. I find if I use this once or twice a week on the ends of my hair it really keeps the ends in great condition.

8.DIOR ADDICT Lipstick  These Lipsticks feel so good on your lips and give a high impact and vibrant colour and I love them! There is so many colours to choice from and if you’re feeling flush there are lip glosses to match each colour. 983 Insoumise 433 Delice

9.Sleek Makeup Blush Antique. I love Sleek and when I saw this new range come out I bought it straight away. I’m loving these colours this season. I was not disappointed. This Dusty Rose tone has subtle glittery silver and gives an elegant glow. Its long lasting easily lasting all day long. As you can see from my picture mine is well used :) I also purchased the i-Divine Pallet that went with it and LOVE it!

10. Statement NecklacesI have bought a few this year, I love them I think they can make an outfit. A plain black dress can but funked up by just popping a cool necklace on. These are two of my favourite. Actually I had a favourite one but it broke on a night out and I was pretty upset about it.

Taking on the Dead By Annie Walls

Taking on the Dead By Annie Walls

I can't remember why I picked this book up, I think it may have been suggested to me on Goodreads. But I sure am glad I fall upon it. It was Amaz-Balls. From the minute I picked it up I couldn't get enough. The first Chapter grabbed me and I couldn't put it down till I finished. There was a couple of late nights and a few early morning "Oh my god why did I do that?" Moments. This was Not intended for a young audience. and has a more Mature content. I gave this Book 5 Stars on Goodreads.

Goodreads..

Life for Kansas was perfect until the day the world changed.

She has been hiding out for four years in solitude. It's the only way to survive. The only way not to draw the living dead. Helping a small group of people, she learns the new world might not be what she assumes. Venturing out of her refuge and comfort zone, she meets Rudy, who helps her find a greater purpose. She realises that the world has moved on without her. Only it's not what she expects. Her knowledge of the living dead grows and only makes her more curious as humanity continues to hang on by a thread. While on her search for answers she finds comfort in new friendships and love, but her past seems as if it will haunt her forever.

Kansas takes it upon herself to help other survivors, which would be easy if the famished were the only obstacles.

In a trilogy plot thick with twists and turns, this adult dark fantasy is emotional as much as it is horrifyingly gripping.

My Thoughts..

Kansas City Sunshine Moore is the main character name quite a mouth full but I couldn't help but love it. Kan for short, has been on her own for the last 4 years, Surviving and trying to keep it together. Losing her family and boyfriend, Kan tries not to make too many ties and Survival is all she knows. That is until she meets a group of people and lets her guard down. When  she lets her guard down she's Loses her only home she's ever known and has to go on the road.

Zombies are not the only thing she faces along the way. At times its so dark your not sure if there is a way out but then she meets Rudy.  I'm not going to give much away but he helps her get back on her feet. At times I though Rudy and Kan would form a romantic tie or maybe that's what I hoped but alas she falls into someone Else's arms and this didn't sit well with me.

Although by the end things had changed and there was some strange paths taken.0046707
And things that I thought where, Where not.

I love that Annie has created a world of zombies that are not quite the same as everything else out there. The famished are fast, the putrids are slow. The Humans Can be just as deadly as any zombies out there. How can she keep an eye on them all to survive!

I loved this Book so much and cannot wait for the second in the series which should be out by the end of the month. But while your waiting for the second instalment don't forget to check out Rudy's Story on Annie's Website.

Hello Again

Its been a long while and I've let things go around here. But I'm hoping to change that.
Life sometimes tends to get in the way and I let them get in the way instead of setting a little time aside to update here a few times a week. I tend to read my book instead as there is not enough time in the day to read in my opinion.

Books I've been reading recently, Hmm well I've not been keeping to one genre I've been shaking ti up and getting a little Romance and a Little Paranormal and so on...

A series I have just recently started to read the Deirdre Martin New York Blades Series and I've been liking it. Although I did take a break after the first two. Deirdre Martin is making a name for herself writing about the love lives of hockey players and their intimate circles.

The first one in the series is Body Check.

Janna MacNeil is a publicist on a mission—to change the image of the bad boys of hockey: the Stanley Cup Champion New York Blades.

Ty Gallagher is a captain on a mission—to get his team to win the Cup again…at any cost. His determination is legendary, as well as his unwillingness to toe the corporate line.

When the persistent publicist and the stubborn captain butt heads, it’s hard enough to crack the ice. But they may end up melting it instead…

Janna MacNeil is a publicist newly hired for the New York Blades hockey team. She's a bit nervous as she's never done PR for a sports team and doesn't know much about hockey. The new owners of the team want her to "spruce up" the reputation of the rowdy team, starting with their captain, Ty Gallagher. Ty is a great player, focused solely on the game. He doesn't care about corporate and all the PR stuff that goes with the sport. Things are not off to a great start; after Jane's first meeting with Ty, she promptly goes into the ladies room and throws up!

Ty is not immune to Jane's sparkle and personality. After a faux-pas involving a charity dinner and her sister, things start to heat up between Jane and Ty, but they've got to keep it on the DL for professional reasons. Of course things don't go smoothly and there is plenty of drama to keep things moving. There are several side stories, Jane's roommate Theressa has some problems, Jane has family issues, Ty's inability to focus on anything but winning the Stanlely Cup....it all blends into a great story!

I really enjoyed this first book in the series. Janna was a very likable leading lady and You just wanted to Love Ty Gallagher. I gave this book 4 stars out of 5 on Goodreads. I raced on to the Second Book in the series which is Fair Play and Tells Theresa's story.

Theresa Falconetti has it all: brains, beauty, a quick wit, and her own PR business. To the Deep disappointment of her large family, she never dates Italians, men from her old Brooklyn neighbourhood, or professional athletes. Especially not athletes...

Michael Dante, popular hometown hero and winger for the Stanley Cup champion New York Blades is all three—and he is head over heels for her.

For Michael, Theresa's NO HOCKEY PLAYERS rule is a check to the heart. Nothing he does seems to melt her resolve. His stubborn refusal to give up on this wisecracking brunette, who—he knows—is hiding from her roots, is driving them both nuts. And when he hires her to publicise his family's restaurant, more than the kitchen heats up. Then Theresa finds herself an Upper East Side kind of guy and Micheal is forced to take his game to the next level.

IT'S FACE OFF TIME...

I'll definitely be reading on in this series.
